Our client is a supplier, contractor and installer of solar energy projects. With experience in both ground-based and building integrated PV, their greatest strength is in the built environment - helping property owners transform existing real estate assets into generators of electricity.

Their target for 2012 is in the order of 20MW of rooftop development.

Purpose

To achieve this, they are now looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of electrical elements on large scale roof top projects in the UK and Europe, from conception, through design and construction and on-going maintenance. They currently have teams in place in Germany and Italy and will shortly establish an execution team in the UK.

Responsibilities

Specifically, the role includes the following:

-Responsibility for all elements of system design, including equipment selection and sizing, detailed electrical design, control and monitoring strategy, transformers and grid connection
-Managing strategy for that at group level
-Taking responsibility for technical strategy across all European projects.
-Setting up UK office as centre of excellence, disseminating best practice across teams.
-Working closely with and providing expertise to project engineers across European teams to ensure compliance with company practice
-Working with the management team to develop business and service offerings
-Managing or directly carrying out ongoing technical assessments of existing PV sites, to ensure maximum revenue received

For UK projects in the immediate term:

-Managing or directly carrying out site suitability assessments of new PV systems
-Liaising with statutory authorities to manage grid integration
-Project management where needed, including contractual, project resourcing, budgets and supplier management

There will be the opportunity to travel internationally with the position.
