Just seven months after breaking ground on construction CPV Renewable Energy Company has announced that the Keenan II wind farm is now fully operational and is feeding renewable, clean energy to the electric grid in Oklahoma.
Comprised of 66 Siemens 2.3 MW wind turbines, the 152 megawatt wind farm sits on 8,000 acres located just outside of Woodward, Oklahoma. The renewable energy is being delivered to the electric grid through a 20-year power purchase agreement with Oklahoma Gas and Electric.
CVP estimates that Keenan II will power 45,000 homes and reduce the carbon footprint by 413,000 tons annually. The completion of this project is just the beginning for Baltimore-based CVP, the company has 7,500 MW North America wind power and photovoltaic projects under development.
"We are delighted to bring this wind farm project in on-schedule and to be generating more clean energy for the people of Oklahoma," said Sean Finnerty, head of CPV's Renewable Energy Company (CPV REC). "Keenan II will provide energy and environmental benefits to people of this region for decades to come. We could never have accomplished this without the bold and visionary leadership of OG&E."
