| | Greetings from AZ I followed Myocardia's link at Anandtech to this site, I've always been fascinated by and interested in renewable energy, not because I think hydrocarbons will cause catastrophic global warming or anything but because sustainability is a beautiful thing. I've loosely followed the solar and wind products but have paid rapt attention to developments in the battery world for the last five years. I'm hoping to find people with an interest in wind/solar that is as intense as my interest in batteries whom I can learn from.
thanks

| | Re: Greetings from AZ hi Nate and welcome to the forum. alternative energy is an exciting new field and i think rapid growth will start up again in the near future. unfortunately price of fuel is what makes alot of people look at alternative energy applications. i am with you though and our environment is just as important. glad to have you with us |

A watt saved is better than a watt generated, since it always costs less than 10% as much, and can cost as little as 1%.
V=volt, A=ampere, Ah=ampere hour, Wh= watt hour, VOC=open circuit voltage, ISC=short circuit current, VMPP=voltage @ max power, IMPP=current @ max power, BTW=by the way, your=belongs to you, you're=you are, too=in addition to, two=1+1, to=towards |

| | Re: Greetings from AZ Sorry for the late reply myo, but I do indeed have thoughts on EESTOR and they are not positive. What they are claiming is outrageous, nothing less than super/ultracap gravimetric energy density that is greater than a full order of magnitude better than existing products, there have been persistent rumors of a product demonstration but nothing has materialized. I was initially excited but I am now highly skeptical, I'll believe it when I see it...
edit: spelling

| | Re: Greetings from AZ I'm pretty sure that most people who follow the battery industry feel the same as you about Eestor. Funnily enough, their world headquarters is only 200 miles from my house. I may very well make a trip down there some time, and see if I can bring back some interesting pictures.

I can assure you that everyone who works there, including the janitors and cleaning crew, has had to sign confidentiality agreements. Fortunately, the other people that live in that town have signed no such agreements. With it being such a small town, the company has almost no secrets from the locals. That's just how it almost always works in towns of that size.
