PicoTurbine Windmill Kit
PicoTurbine is a fully functioning wind turbine. Standing 8 inches tall, it produces between 1.7 - 2.5 volts, enough to light up a bicolor LED (included) that flashes red and green to show the alternating current produced. The kit can be easily built in under one hour, less time if used as a group project. Children as young as 10 years old can build the project with some adult supervision.

PicoTurbine has been used by thousands of students, home schoolers, and even adult hobbiests to learn about wind power. Its been used by major universities such as MIT, Texas A&M, Duke, and Caltech, as well as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for summer youth programs. Its perfect for science fairs, science reports, a class room setting or just plain fun!

All kits include an instructor guide which contains great classroom ideas, experiments, and technical notes for older children or adult experimenters. We have done our homework over the years and created a extensive trouble shooting guide which is also included.

Here is what you will receive in your PicoTurbine Wind Turbine Kit:
•2 feet of thick aluminum wire.
•4 picoTurbine pre-wound coils of enamel coated copper wire.
•4 ceramic grade-5 magnets
•1 bicolor light emitting diode (LED) with 2 leads.
•3 phillips head (cross slot) screws.
•1 wooden dowel sharpened on one end
•1 piece of wood about 8” by 5” and ½” thick
•1 piece of corrugated cardboard about 8” by 10”
•3 retaining clips (small semi-circular metal e-clips)
•1 strip of pre-cut double-sided tape pads
•1 small piece of sandpaper for stripping copper wire
•1 instruction manual and template sheet for the cardboard parts
