View Full Version : E-scooter vs e-bicycle

Anybody tried and compared both?
The e-bicycle is lighter, but the e-scooter (like an XB500) can carry some really big batteries below the foot deck.
Is the e-scooter worth the extra cost & weight?

There's really no right or wrong answer to this one. The 48V scooters, like the XB-500/502, will only travel a few miles farther between charges than the 24V bicycles will, if the rider isn't pedaling the bicycle, and roughly the same distance as the average 36V bicycle, around 8-10 miles for a lighter rider. The scooter has places to stow things that the bicycle doesn't have, but the bicycle has the capability to actually help the motor by pedaling.
The "gear" for the pedals on the X-Treme scooters is made out of plastic, and is not meant to be used to propel the scooter in any way. With continuous pedaling, 25 miles is a fairly easy distance to do with an e-bike, and completely impossible to do with any of the lead acid powered Chinese scooters. Also, although quite a few of the states/cities/towns let these scooters with pedals use the streets without license plate/inspection sticker/insurance, technically they are a moped. In California (their largest market), mopeds require none of those things, but in Texas they require all of those things, so that's something else to think about, besides how often these Chinese scooters need to be repaired.

I will go for an E-Bicycle, while talking about electronic appliances that run using batteries. It requires a lot of energy to lift heavy weight and bicycle is a light weight vehicle.
